SAIT Capstone Project
RC-G Zoning Rowhousing

This project represents what I am capable of as an AT student. Everything from design schematics, to development permit drawings, to the City of Calgary DP process, to building permit drawings, the 20th Avenue Rowhouse is a highly detailed project closely representing a real-life residential development process. As a graduate of the Architectural Technologies diploma from SAIT, I am capable of going through the motions of a project with confidence, and with tremendous knowledge of the new RC-G zoning district in Calgary.

As a building, the 20th Avenue Rowhouse is a 3 unit building on a 50' lot. It has a high performance building enclosure with a above grade wall value of R-24, with the use of exterior insulation. All of the windows in the building are triple-pane 1/4" thick low-E glass to provide the upmost thermal quality possible.
Inside features an open main floor plan to allow easy traffic movement and to allow the most light into the long and narrow dwelling. The main spectacle is the staircase that travels over 4 floors with a large skylight on the third floor to allow light to penetrate each floor all the way to the basement. The second floor contains private amenities including 2 large bedrooms, bathroom, and laundry. Third floor contains the master quarters - a large bedroom, en suite, office for 2 and a rooftop balcony with south views of the city.

Along with my classmates, I believe that rowhousing will make a large positive impact on the future of Calgary's inner-city neighbourhoods.
